South African police at Swartkops have opened an investigation into the drowning of a five-year-old boy on Saturday May 14.
It is alleged that Ayanda Peter was playing ball in a yard on Yale Road in Bluewater Bay, Gqeberha.
Their 11-year-old sister saw the boy lying at the bottom of the pool and dived to save him. But unfortunately, he found it already dead.
It is also alleged that the child may have dived into the well to retrieve his ball while drowning. Police investigations are ongoing.
Police urges everyone to practice #WaterSafety
*Never leave a young child unattended near water and never make a child responsible for another child – not even for five minutes. *Teach children to always ask permission to go near water.
*A swimming pool should be fenced, or pool covers should not be used as a substitute for a fence.
