Cllr Zitha, a member of the Mayoral Committee for Health and Social Development, visited two locations today alongside ActionSA’s Cllr Makhubo and Phoshoko, and EFF’s Cllr Thusi, all of whom are responsible for Tembisa Constituency.

The visit comes after recent heavy rains that flooded 120 families’ shack, causing significant damage to their furnishings and dwellings. The purpose of the visit was to provide immediate assistance to individuals who had been impacted by the floods.

Zitha said, “there has been significant infrastructural damage, but we have identified three places as potential flooding hotspots amid the heavy rains.”

As a result, Social Development staff was urged by Zitha to find alternate housing for individuals impacted.

Zitha said that they have already made arrangements for the affected families to be moved and she also claims that the City would always be present on the ground and will serve as Ekurhuleni’s leadership.

“This makes it simple for us to grasp the difficulties that our community is dealing with and respond appropriately” said Zitha.

Councillors in Tembisa together with MMC also distributed social relief packages and food supplies.
