Cllr Vukile Vido Mhlelembana, Executive Mayor of the Alfred Nzo District Municipality, paid a visit to Cangci Comprehensive Technical High School in Mpisi village, Ward 16.

The Executive Mayor was accompanied by Cllr Nathi Nqoko, the Director of the District’s Department of Local Economic Development, who is also a member of the Mayoral Committee. Winnie Madikizela Mandela LM’s Cllr Lusapho Mcambalala, a Member of the Executive who represented the Mayor of WMMLM, Cllr Daniswa Mafumbatha, a Winnie Exco Member, and the Department of Education’s Management in Alfred Nzo East attended the ceremony.

Cllr Vukile Mhlelembana visited this school as part of the back-to-school campaign to review some of the problems that the institution faces. The school was ranked third in Alfred Nzo East in the 2021 matric results.

Because education is a societal issue, the Executive Mayor vowed to collaborate with other stakeholders to improve the district’s educational standards. The school’s biggest difficulty is a lack of classrooms, as the role of the school is 930 students with 32 educators.

The Executive Mayor agreed to create classrooms that can accommodate learners in the school with a sum of R100 000.00 that he will raise in his personal capacity rather than using Municipal Council funds, and he promised that the money would reflect in the school account within a month.
