Remembrance and thanksgiving, the late Gqeberha-based liberation struggle activist, Mama Lilian ‘Lily’ Diedericks

December 13 saw the Eastern Cape Premier, Lubabalo Oscar Mabuyane lead a provincial programme of remembrance and thanksgiving, in honour of the late Gqeberha-based liberation struggle activist, Mama Lilian ‘Lily’ Diedericks.

Proceedings of this auspicious occasion began with the burial of remains ceremony at the Paapenkuil Cemetery in Gelvandale, Gqeberha, followed by an unveiling of a memorial tombstone at Heroes Acre.

Premier Mabuyane also unveiled a bust statue of the late Diedericks at the Nelson Mandela Bay Metro office buildings, which was renamed Lilian Diedericks Building (former Brister House) in 2009.

The Premier will be delivered a message of the day at the remembrance service, at the Feather Market Centre in Gqeberha.
