When they saw the Avanza bus carrying people from Ngcobo to Mthatha, the taxi drivers in Ngcobo couldn’t stop themselves. Following the vision, the taxi drivers awoke to find the Avanza and pursued it.
They pursued it, and when it first arrived in Ngcobo, it collided with a bakkie carrying two people. The Avanza had a capacity of five passengers. The bakkie and the Avanza rammed into each other.
Four people were killed on the spot, and three others were seriously injured. They were taken to All Saints Hospital in an ambulance.
“It’s unfortunate that such deaths are caused by people who have no right to chase people down our streets. The law will have to play its part,” said Unathi Binqose, a Department of Transport spokesperson.
