Nkosinathi “Arah” Mfazwe an artist and song writer from East London, Mdantsane has been nominated this year for the Eastern Cape Music Awards. He has bagged a 3 year contract with Sheer Publish Company in Gauteng.

Nkosinathi is calling for recognition from the Eastern Cape Provincial Arts and Culture Council (ECPACC) and the National Department of Arts and Culture for assistance and financial support especially during the hard times faced by artists due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

“Kubuhlungu ukuba yi artist yase Eastern Cape, talent ikhona but ayikho isupport ku Government” said Mfazwe.

On March 25 in 2020, the Minister of Sports, Arts and Culture Nathi Mthethwa announced that an amount of R150 million was going to be released to assist artists and athletes during the Covid-19 lockdown, but it was later discovered by an independent forensic investigation that there was a misappropriation of funds.

Mfazwe mentioned that he wishes the Department of Arts and Culture would hear artists grievances, struggles and assist them.
