Afrikaans singer songwriter Theuns Jordaan lose battle against Cancer

The South African singer song writer died on the 17 November 2021 Wednesday morning, he died at the age of 50.

He was diagnosed last year September with acute myeloid leukemia, a type of cancer of the blood and bone marrow with excess immature white blood cells. Thenceforth he received chemotherapy and had a bone marrow transplant in March.

Theuns Jordaan made an enormous contribution to Afrikaans music, he won several awards including a SAMA award in 2013 as a top seller in South Africa with his album Roeper and was well-known for his hit songs like Soos Bloed, Jou Asem and Hakkieshart. The news of his passing was a shock throughout South Africa especially in the Afrikaans music scene. Most of Jordaans fans took to social media to send condolences to his family and friends.

His friend Armand Hofmeyer took to social media to deliver a heartfelt tribute “Theuns my old friend, I learned a lot from you. Most of my writing work is based on what you taught me. I would’ve liked to learn a lot from you REST IN PEACE… this is heart breaking”.

“Unbelievably sad news, you will always be remember. Rest in peace dearest Theuns. Going to miss you a lot” said a fan.
