The Nkula Family is deeply saddened by the untimely death of its beloved son, father, brother, uncle and grandfather Mthombo Nkula on Thursday, 11 November 2021. The family met on Saturday to deliberate on the ideal send-off befitting this great community builder, taking into consideration his wishes for this which, he openly discussed with his siblings prior to his unfortunate death.
Mthombo’s remains will be laid to rest at the family grave site at Qhukru Village, a service that will be attended strictly by family members, the clergy and officers of Nomtshongwana Funeral Services. The family has requested its privacy to be noted during this painful period. No friends, colleagues, or any groups unfortunately will attend this private burial. This will be Phase 1 of the late Mthombo’s send off.
The Funeral service, Phase 2, that will be open to members of the public, including various formations such as Business, Politics, Civic organisations, and Neighbours will be held on Friday, 19 November 2021 at O9h00; conducted by the Methodist Church of Southern Africa (MCSA), the Reverend SN Nondlwana Society, NU 8, Mdantsane. All funeral protocols related to Covid19 Lockdown restrictions as dictated by the governments Alert Level 1, will be strictly adhered to including all time wearing of masks and social distance to mention but a few. In typical Ndlovu’s way of life, a generous heart oozing love and warmth to those around him; this service will celebrate his life more than mourning his departure. A Facebook page dedicated to celebrating Mthombo’s life and light moments for tributes and photos is being set up.
The family has noted Ndlovu’s immense contribution to township economy and as a businessman, his economy drive towards alleviating poverty and unemployment; has humbled us all. We cannot turn a blind eye to many whose livelihood depended largely on his businesses, from employees to service providers in the hospitality and entertainment sectors. This “Lilizela” Tourism Award Winner remains a flag bearer not only in our family but the entire community of Mdantsane township. Mthombo was a member of the African National Congress and was fully committed to partnering with the ANC led government in giving value for money in the way he conducted his business affairs, and transformed his employees lives.
