The South African film brand, Montywood, a subsidiary of Kumkani FM has completed post-production on its first period piece film, titled ‘The Rise of Nguni’. The film tells the story of the land conflict between the Xhosa and the White people’s nation in South Africa.
Montywood revealed that the film will be ready for release next year, in 2022, and that additional details will be released to the public as they move closer to completing the project. However, it has been established that the film will be exclusively distributed through the montywood streaming platform for a period of one year before being made available for licensing or syndication.
The required agreements will be signed with those who show interest in the film.
“We are planning to get the film ready for premiere in 2022 and all relevant stakeholders including the family of Maqoma will be invited to the premiere, we wish that funding sources could believe and trust us when we say we need a certain amount of money to shoot these films”, said Xabiso Ngabase.
The producer of the film, Xabiso Ngabase added that this film will help them get to the point of shooting a franchise called Maqoma, which will cover the stories of the frontier wars.
