EC HUMAN SETTLEMENTS REPLACES OLD WOMAN’S MUD HOUSE IN QONCE

By Siposethu Hashe

The department of human settlements in Eastern Cape together with Buffalo City Metro replaced Nofayini Booi’s demolished mud house with a new one at Tolofiyeni.

Before her mud house was demolished by a storm, Booi lived there for more than 80 years with her four children and 11 grandchildren.

On Monday, October 25 the keys to the new house were handed over to the Booi family at Tolofiyeni in Qonce formerly known as King Williams Town.

The handover was bittersweet as the main beneficiary, Nofayini was no longer alive to witness the moment, she passed away few days before the handover.

Her eldest daughter was the one who received the keys.
