The Kumkani FM News Presenter Yoliswa Khundulu was born on the 4th of November in Mdantsane, East London. She has always been passionate about news reading and drew inspiration from the likes of Noxolo Grootboom.
Growing up, she used to listen to music on the radio but when the news bulletin comes she would listen to it attentively and was quite fascinated by the way news were produced. She recalls, “I realised that this was my calling in high school when during our presentations all I did was to read the news”. She always had an eye for detail and would actively read newspapers as well paying attention to the way stories were written.
Her determination is what kept her going regardless of how other kids at school would make fun of her. As a result, in 2002 she decided to join interviews that were being conducted by a local radio station and managed to land herself a gig doing a Current Affairs Show.
In 2020, she joined Kumkani FM as a general journalist and because of her hard work and experience she was then appointed as a senior journalist.
She said, “I strongly believe that in order to climb up the success ladder you need to be teachable and learn from those that are already experienced in the field”.
