Flash Ikumkani puts the Xhosa rap on the map

The 23 year old mhluzi hit maker, Hlumile Mangoloti also known as Flash Ikumkani was born and raised in a small village outside King Williams Town known as Peelton in the Eastern Cape, where he lived with his mother, brother and grandparents.

The focused and determined young man who is well known for his single ‘Umhluzi’ that was dropped late in July 2020 got a co-sign by the very famous Hip hop artist, Emtee under the Emtee record label. Before getting the co-sign from Emtee, Flash was part of the Jozi Empire where he released many songs. This artist is determined in rapping in Xhosa as it is his home language. Flash has communicated that life for him was not always glamorous and glory. He started singing at a very young age and that caused conflicts between him and his family in a subtle way. In one of his singles ‘UBIZO’ he gives a clearer idea of what mostly happened in a definitely big way. In December 2020 he released a remix of his fame song ‘UMHLUZI’ featuring two other Xhosa artists from Cape Town, Bravo Leroux and Soul T.

Flash Ikumkani has released a music video of a song titled ‘I need a bag’ ft Bangerman that hit 24k views within 6days on YouTube, which is quite impressive. Flash Ikumkani also features Emtee on his Album that was released in April ‘Logan’. This artist recently dropped his Album titled ‘IQHAWE’ that consists of 11 songs with different features and later dropped a Deluxe. He is currently working on a few music videos.

“Making music has always been my dream, I am becoming more happy because I can see progress and the feedback I get from people is amazing and it keeps me going because their lives are being changed by music and that is my main goal for doing music”, said Flash.

He also gave words of wisdom to upcoming artists, “You should research and gain knowledge about what you want to become and remember there is always light at the end of the tunnel”.

Flash Ikumkani said he is determined in making his family proud at all times and that they have all they need by securing the bag.
