Border Women rugby captain and loose-forward, Lusanda Dumke, scrumhalf Unam Tose, the prop duo of Yonela Ngxingolo and Asithandile Ntoyanto were included in a 33 women squad named by Springboks women coach Stanley Raubenheimer on Tuesday for their upcoming European tour.
The Boks women team will kick off their European tour against France at Vannes (6 November) and then later face the Barbarians Women at Twickenham (27 November).
This tour will be the Springboks Women first tour since 2018.
Having white washed the Kenyan women team in a two match series last month, Raubenheimer was impressed by the progress the Springbok women team made.
“The Test series against Kenya was a great way for the ladies to return to international action after a very tough Women’s Premier Division competition earlier this year, but the next step in our Rugby World Cup 2022 plan is to travel abroad and get the players to experience rugby in different conditions, against very strong opposition.’ he said
Raubernheimer added, “All 33 of these players were part of our previous camp, when we played two Tests against Kenya, and they have been on a strict training and testing programme outlined by our strength and condition coach, Naasier Parker, while they also attend regional skills sessions, to ensure we hit the ground running at the end of October.”
