SAI set to launch another youth friendly centre in Bindura

A organization that was formed with the aim of empowering and promoting the recognition of marginalized groups as well as persons with disabilities in Zimbabwe and beyond Smile Action International (SAI) is planning to open another youth site in Bindura on United Nations (UN) Day and decided to hold its anniversary on the same day, the founder Tatenda Mamina told NTU News Zimbabwe.

“On 23 october during the national convention we will be launching Bindura youth friendly centre as we commemorate UN day and our SAI anniversary in Bindura, stakeholders, members and partners attend annually and our organization will be celebrating its anniversary on the same day.”

SAI have youth friendly centres and youth programs in fight against drug abuse and sexual gender based violence (SGBV) as well as youths with disabilities inclusion programs in partnership with Zimbabwe Youth Council among other stakeholders.

Mamina said “we have various projects all over Zimbabwe to capacitate the marginalised including people with disabilities, women and all age groups.”

“Our programs are in line with NDS1 and UN SDGs while our key areas of programing include sign language for all, community training and gender empowerment in partnership with Gender Commission, Victim Friendly Units and Victim Friendly Courts among other stakeholders as a result we have made a difference to survivors of SGBV especially PWDs and marginalized youths.

“We are running various trainings and mentorship programmes nationwide and over 600 people have been empowered since the formation of SAI in Zimbabwe.”

Tatenda Mamina who is also the operations director at SAI founded the organization and officially registered it in the city of kings and queens Bulawayo on 23 October 2019.

Bulawayo serves as Global headquarters while bindura as the national for Zimbabwe branch, other branches are in South Africa and Mozambique.
