Southern Africa Regional Exporter Awards To Be Hosted By ECDC

East London will be hosting a memorable event this year, which is the Southern Africa Regional Awards and it will be held at the International Convention Centre by the Eastern Cape Development Corporation on the September 22. The event will still have to follow the procedures that need to be taken in order prevent the spreading of COVID-19 and that is to limit the amount of attendees in-person, and the ceremony will be allowing virtual and physical participation take place.

The Southern Africa Regional Awards is more in alliance with USAID Southern Africa Trade & Investment Hub (USAID TRADEHUB) and as well as the Eastern Cape Development Corporation (ECDC).

The USAID focuses more to gain and sustain growth on countries, which is a success to these nine countries that can be found in the Southern parts of Africa such as: South Africa, Namibia, Mozambique, Malawi, Botswana, Lesotho, eSwatini, Zambia and as well as Angola. These countries had increased in competitiveness and growth can also been seen in them

Mr Phakamisa George, who is Acting Head of Trade, Investment and Innovation said, “It is not individual performance but collaboration that will take us forward. Countries with a more open economy and export programme have more opportunities to absorb the necessary technologies and innovations to take them forward.” And he also stated that the ECDC is very pleased to be also part of the programme that will be awarding businesses that were functioning during the hard times that were face in the unpleasant levels of COVID-19 restrictions.

The Southern Africa Regional Awards will consists of many categories such as the:

•Exporter of the Year South Africa

•The United States markets

•Buyer of the Year South Africa and United States markets

•Capital Provider of the Year

•Trade Promotion Service Provider of the Year.

Nominations will be open on August 27 and the closing date is on September 7.
