Sports management company Roc Nation Sport, announced the signing of Sharks and Springbok utility back Aphelele Fassi, the company owned by famous American rapper Shawn ‘Jay-Z’ Carter broke the news on their website on Tuesday morning, August 24.

Nicknamed the ‘Weekend special’, Aphelele Fassi, 23, was born in Qonce, Eastern Cape. Fassi played for Dale College 1st team as Fly half , that is where he caught the eye of Kwa-Zulu Natal based rugby franchise Sharks in 2018. Having impressed in the Currie Cup in 2019, in 2020 Fassi was promoted to the Super Rugby squad where he fitted so perfectly.

Having been consistent in the past 3 years Fassi was named in a 41-man squad by Springbok Coach Jacques Nienaber in May and later made his debut for the Springboks against Georgia in June and impressed after scoring a try on his debut.

Fassi joins a bunch of notable rugby superstars at Roc Nation Sport such as 2019 Rugby World Cup winning captain Siyamthanda Kolisi, England Lock Forward Maro Itoje, former Springbok loose head prop Tendai ‘Beast’ Mtawarira and the duo of Springbok wingers Sbu Nkosi and Cheslin Kolbe.
