“Anything is possible, believe in yourself”, said young artist Phalo Gara, 24, who hails from Keikskammahoek near King Williams Town in the Eastern Cape.

Gara started drawing when he was at a young age and at that time, he was drawing pictures like cars, animals, and houses just for fun.

Gara stated that he never went to school to study art but that was his talent.

His grandfather noticed his art work and he told him that this is his talent, and he must be confident and determined.

He said that his grandfather encouraged him to draw more pictures because he believed that he is an artist as he knows how to draw.

“I was encouraged by my grandfather, and he was the one who drove me to be committed to this work”, said Gara.

Gara continued practising with his drawings until he got used to it.

He started last year to share his work on social media so that people could see his work.

“Because there are no jobs, I posted my work on social media because I believed that this could bring some food on the table if I work hard”, he added.

The young man wants his work to be recognized all over the country, and he believes that his dreams will come true one day as his work is praised in the community.
