The NAM Foundation, was founded by Ngwekazi Apiwe Makaba and solely focuses on improving the lives of disadvantaged children and youth in Eastern Cape mainly targets rural areas.
It provides basic needs to orphanages, vulnerable children and youth, children and youth living with disabilities; like school shoes, sanitary towels and access to higher education information.
“I know how it feels to have nothing, I saw a need to be part of the solution that uplift, empower, builds confidence and protect black child’s dignity”, said Ngwekazi
The NAM Foundation NPC offered different projects that benefit the communities of the Eastern Cape Province namely; one Child one Blanket Drive, Clothing Bank, Toiletry gift Drive, one Child one Shoe Drive, and University application campaign.
The Foundation has had over 116 beneficiaries of the School shoe drive from different areas namely: Kwezi Primary School in Tyinirha, Nqamakhwe A/A, Msento Primary School in Centane, St Thomas School of the deaf in King Williams Town, Orange Groove Primary School in Mtata, Ithemba Lothando Children’s Home.
Recently the Foundation was donated with clothes on July 18 in Brayelin where people’s homes were scorched in a fire. Currently the Nam Foundation is embarking on its University applications campaign, so far there are 32 out of 56 university applications being processed through the campaign.
“Our foundation is built to improve the lives of disadvantaged, we strive for black children to be equal in every way by providing them with the best tools that will help them in reaching their full potential”, said Ngwekazi.
