Ncuthu tours livid after medical waste was dumped on their tourist route that leads to Bridle Drift Dam in NU7.

Siseko Yelani of Ncuthu Tours said that they do tours around Mdantsane to improve tourism in the township and they make use of the route in NU7 for nature-based activities. Their clients are not happy with the waste.

“We do tours around Mdantsane to improve tourism in the township. We use this side the most because our tours are nature based. We have nature-based activities such as mountain biking and nature walks. Things like the medical waste are danger to people and our clients always complain about the waste,” said Yelani

Residents have also been complaining about the waste. They said that this has been happening for some time now.

They fear that they might contract diseases from the waste and that there are children who play near those dumping sites that have disposed needles and medicine containers.

Yelani said that he reported the matter to BCMM (Buffalo City Metropolitan Municipality) but has not received help yet. However, they promised him that they will take care of the waste.

“I have already reported the matter to BCMM and we have not received any help but today I received a phone call from an official from Public and Safety and he promised to get in contact with Solid Waste to remove the medical waste,” he said.
