COMMUNITIES UNIT TO FIGHT DRUGS AND CRIME IN BCM

Communities in the Buffalo City Metro are coming together to fight drug abuse which has taken the area by storm. They believe that the
surge in number of crimes in these areas is caused by drugs and dealing.

This follows after the streetlights and electricity cables in the main road, Qumza Highway, were stolen. The main road was upgraded just a year ago. Ward councillor, Mpumelelo Fini said that communities are forming forums that will work together with the police to deal with these
crimes and there are communities that already have ones in Ward 21.

“It is important that there is a relation between these forums and police officers because I do not want people to join these forums for their own agendas, but to only help the communities” The forums have started patrolling in NU2, Qumza Highway and residents said that they can already see the change.
