On CHDM’s commitment to deliver on its mandate as the Water and Sanitation Services Authority and Provider to even the most remote areas within its area of jurisdiction deployed a team to engage with the community in this regard.
The Engineering Directorate team led by Cllr Tumeka Bikwana (Portfolio Head for Engineering) had an opportunity for a direct interaction with KwaSandile community responding to various issues related to water and sanitation services as raised by the community.
That included the duration of the bulk water supply project that will be undertaken in the area, rates and payments, the role of Small Medium and Micro Enterprise (SMMEs), requirements for job opportunities and health and safety related issues amongst others.
Bikwana says this project will not only benefit the KwaSandile locality.
“The project will see a number of villages in Engcobo Local Municipality, such as Xhengu, Zabaza, Mkhonkotho and Chibi receiving uninterrupted water supply”. Said Bikwana.
The project is expected to be completed within a duration of 24 months.
