On May 8, the Mdantsane Hurricanes team travlled to Dimbaza in the pouring rain for a game of rugby. The Hurricanes brought three teams with them to face IINKUNZI in their back yard, first on the line-up was the under 15ns both sides were heated up in that cold rainy weather.
IINKUNZI registered their first try on the score sheet leading with 5 points into the second half of the game. The home boys went wild scoring try after try leading 15 points ahead of the visitors, Hurricanes respond with a consolation try which lead to the end of the game IINKUNZI won the game 15 – 5. IINKUNZI were to play Hurricanes under 16 however due to miscommunication between the team and other local teams IINKUNZI had to sacrifice the game for Zabalaza to play Hurricane’s under 16 which the Hurricane team swept the neighbouring team causing casualties towards the score line.
The Hurricanes under 16 scored 45 points that went unanswered. IINKUNZI under 19 went on a showdown with Hurricanes under 19 from the very first minutes the teams torn each other apart in muddy conditions the homeboys opened up with a spectacular try and a conversion. Hurricanes did not take that sitting down they responded with a try and failed to convert.
IINKUNZI extended their lead with 7 more points leading 14 to 5. The Hurricanes team came back with 2 penalties taking them to 11 points. Both teams went back and forth measuring their muscles with one another, on the last second of the dying game IINKUNZI caused a penalty inside their 5 metre line. The visiting team took the opportunity with both hands crossing the score line and converting for 2 points winning the game with 20 points to 14.
