Bonga Sobekwa from Nqamakhwe, one of the   most rural and disadvantaged areas in the Eastern Cape is feeling most fortunate to be part of the chosen ones to benefit from the MEC of Education Fundile Gade’s bursary to further his studies.

Sobekwa has managed to secure space at Walter Sisulu University by registering for Bachelor in Education for this academic year all thanks to MEC Gage.

Expressing himself Sobekwa told NTU NEW what this means to him.

“I’m from an area that most young people do not get a lot of opportunities to fulfil their dreams or even further their studies.

I have been fortunate to become  one of the recipients of a bursary that I got from the MEC of  education  Mr Fundile Gade and I would like to thank him for this rare opportunity  given  to me as it will change my life not only mine even of those around me(my family ,society and community)” said Sobekwa.

According to him this would have never happened if it was for Ms S. Lukhanyo. “I would like to specifically thank Ms S.Lukhanyo for being symphatatic when I told her my problem, and for her patience and persistence.   I didn’t know that there are still people like her with compassion, care and humility may you continue working on developing the poor and disadvantaged. I believe that a Son of a farm worker can become a teacher,a child of a domestic worker  can become a Doctor. It’s time to wake up and emulate your dreams believe that there is something within your heart that is bigger than your obstacles” said Sobekwa.

MEC Gade could not be reached express his thoughts about Sobekwa.
