ADM TO GIVE LMs FASHION DESIGNERS MUCH NEEDED BOOST WITH MATERIAL HANDOVER

Amathole District Municipality in collaboration with Eastern Cape Department of Transport and Amahlathi Local Municipality are expected to handover working material in the form of a multi-purpose mobile steel container, fabric material and sewing machines to Amahlathi based fashion designers in Stutterheim on April 16.

ADM Executive Mayor Cllr Khanyile Maneli said the much needed intervention will boost the upcoming clothing and textile sector. “This initiative serves as a vehicle to enhance operational capacity for emerging local fashion designers while fulfilling the aspiration of the local youths,” said Maneli.

Highlighting on the objective of the programme Mayor Maneli told NTU News that, the commitment and support of emerging entrepreneurs was evidence of the district’s commitment to empower. “It is through this intervention that the local fashion industry is mapped at the centre of local economic development with maximum inclusion of unemployed youth and women,” said Maneli.
