Comrade Mayson Mackay has passed away early hours of today

It is with great sadness that we learnt of Comrade Mayson Mackay’s passing early hours of today, Friday, 08 January 2021, exactly on the 109 anniversary of our ANC.

It is indeed a deep pain of this loss, not only to the family of Cde Mackay and friends but to the Comrades and political space in general. I personally shared a political space with Cde Mayson Mackay and I remembered him of his robust engagement and approach to issues.

Cde Mayson Mackay was a leader and teacher of great principle and a true revolutionary who never betrayed the struggle. During his tenure as a ANC Ward 10 Branch Chairperson will be remembered for being resolute to his commitment to the organization.

As we mourn his loss together, let us find solance in the knowledge that the ideals which Cde Mayson Mackay dedicated his life remain at the centre of our national effort to achieve a better life for all. Cde Mayson Mackay is leaving us during a difficult time in our country and the world when we are faced with Covid-19 and when divisions and factions within his ANC are growing daily.

Cde Mayson Mackay is leaving us during the difficult period in the ANC where hate, name droppings and corruption is daily bread. He is leaving us during a hard time for the ANC where few who are prepared to speak truth and rebuild this glorious movement instead majority is in denial that the ANC is slowly killing itself because of corruption, growing of hate amongst Comrades and non-stop of praising clueless fake leaders, and I appeal to his revolutionary spirit to report to our fallen heroes and heroines such as Cliffie Brown, Sonny Du Plessis, Leon Meyer, Nelson Mandela, Oliver Tambo, Lilian Ngoyi, Albertina Sisulu, Charlotte Maxeke, Chris Hani, Moses Kotane, Harry Fazzie, Alcott Gwentshe to mention few that they must look over our ANC, our South Africa as a country and bless it.

Cde Mayson Mackay guided us as young activists, so we dare not to fail him on his teachings. In order to pay a befitting tribute to Cde Mayson Mackay- we must crush factionalism within the ANC, openly expose corruption that is happening right now in Covid-19 pandemic, be champions of unity and go away with dealers instead start to look for leaders.

Cde Mayson Mackay never sold out the revolution. Ethiopian Empire from 1916 to 1928 and King of Ethiopia from 1928 to 1930 Haile Selassie once said “Throughout history, it has been the inaction of those who could have acted, the indifference of those who could have known better, the silence of the voice of justice when it mattered most, that has made it possible for evil to triumph”, and Cde Mayson Mackay was like Haile Selassie, he was always ready to act and never kept quiet when something goes wrong.

Lets all as Comrades from Dr W.B Rubusana Region and the Province salute this distinguished leader and teacher.

May his revolutionary soul rest in eternal peace.
